Why Studio

Squash the file, not the photo.

Let it find the smallest file

Looks the same searches for the lowest quality that still looks identical, using a perceptual metric instead of a guess. Fit under hits a size in KB, for upload forms and email limits.

Tune one photo without redoing the batch

Drop a hundred images and give the one that needs it its own crop, look or quality. The other ninety-nine stay exactly as they were.

Your updates never expire

US$49 once, and every future update is included, major versions too. No annual plan, and no renewal banner where your settings should be.

18 looks. All of them. No packs.

Every look, watermark, redaction tool, responsive set and format is in the box. There is no shop inside the app, and the free Shrinker Pro underneath compresses without limits.

Quality

Three ways to choose how hard to squash.

Most compressors make you pick a number and hope. Studio can pick it for you, and the After pane always shows the exact file Export will write.

Looks the same

Studio tests quality settings and keeps the lowest one that a perceptual metric (ssimulacra2) says still looks identical to the original.

Fit under

Enter a size such as 200 KB. Studio finds the highest quality that fits, and offers Resize to fit when even the lowest quality is too large.

Manual

Prefer to choose? Set the quality yourself and watch the After pane and file size update.

Format and quality popover set to WebP and Looks the same, showing the quality found for this photo
Looks the same finds the lowest quality that still looks identical, for each photo.

Compare

See it before you save it.

Split puts a divider across the original and the result. Side by side shows both, panning and zooming together up to 1600%. Difference paints a heat map of where they differ, so artefacts have nowhere to hide.

Formats shows the same photo as JPEG, WebP, AVIF and JPEG XL at once and marks the smallest. Choose by looking, not by reading benchmark charts.

Split view comparing the original portrait with the WebP result, 877 KB down to 143 KB
Split: drag the divider across the original and the result. Looks the same chose quality 93 here, for 84% smaller.

Difference: a heat map of exactly where compression changed pixels.

Side by side: both versions pan and zoom together.
Formats view showing the same photo as JPEG, WebP, AVIF and JPEG XL with their file sizes and the smallest marked

The rest of the job

All in the same recipe.

Resize and crop, adjust, add a look, watermark, redact, rename and strip metadata, then save. One pass, one export.

Shape

Resize & crop
Resize to any size, and crop with subject-aware placement that keeps the subject in frame, or place the crop by hand.
Responsive set
Several sizes of each photo in one export, plus the srcset snippet to paste into your HTML.

Look

Adjust
Exposure, contrast, colour and more, per batch or per photo.
Look
18 built-in looks, from Clear and Crisp to Cinema and Graphite. All of them are included; there are no packs to buy.
Reduce palette
Fewer colours for graphics, icons and screenshots, with optional dithering.
Border
Solid, Rounded or Shadow.

Mark

Watermark
Up to five text or image marks per photo, placed automatically or by hand.
Redact
Finds QR codes, barcodes, email addresses or all text and covers them. Cover anything else by hand.

File

Rename
Name exported files from a template.
Metadata
Choose what to keep. By default only the copyright stays; location, camera and other data are removed.
Save to
Send exports wherever you want them. Nothing touches the disk until you press Export.

Questions

Before it launches.

Is Shrinker Studio a separate app?

No. It is a paid upgrade inside Shrinker Pro, the free image compressor. Press Open Studio and a second window opens with the full workspace. There is nothing else to download.

Is Shrinker Pro still free?

Yes. Shrinker Pro is free, forever, with no limits and no nags, and its source is open under the MIT licence. Studio is optional.

When can I get Shrinker Studio?

Shrinker Studio is coming soon: it goes on sale in November 2026, inside Shrinker Pro. Until then it cannot be bought, and Shrinker Pro stays free to download and use.

How much does Shrinker Studio cost?

US$49, once. Every future update is included, major versions too. There is no subscription and there are no paid packs. The launch price is US$35 until Cyber Monday, 30 November 2026.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes. Every Studio tool works for your first 10 exports, with no account and no card. Buying a licence removes the limit.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Every image is processed on your Mac and never uploaded. The licence is checked on your Mac with no activation server, so Studio keeps working offline. The app has no analytics. Its only network use is the update check and opening checkout in your browser. Once a licence is installed, Studio also downloads a list of cancelled (refunded) licences once a day, which sends nothing about you; on the free trial it makes no such request. A licence only stops working if it is refunded.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported.
